Steady Summer Bite Brings Quality Reds to the Flats

Redfish action in Port O’Connor is heating up as summer settles in. Anglers are seeing consistent bites along the grassy shorelines, marsh cuts, and deeper flats, especially during early morning and late afternoon tides. Live and cut bait are producing solid results, but those tossing gold spoons or paddle tail soft plastics are also finding success—especially in slightly stained water.

Most of the slot reds are coming in between 22 to 27 inches, with a few upper-slot bruisers mixed in. The back lakes and bays near Pringle and South Pass are holding fish, especially on moving water. Sight casting opportunities have been excellent on calmer days with clear water and light winds.
